It turns out that the British do not have a taste for heat in their food (or, as Mordu would say, for flavor - ahem - flavour). We went to buy a bottle of Frank's hot sauce at the supermarket and the only one they sold was so small we had to laugh. Instead, we bought regular black pepper. Read carefully...it says "TRY TIP: Why not try adding flavour to savoury dishes?" Indeed, England, why not?
:) :) :) hehe. SO TRUE. It's the same in Germany. I had a German friend who used to tear up just at the SMELL of hot sauce!
