National Museum of Scotland

This museums tells the history of Scotland starting with the Big Bang. They don't mess around. Here are some highlights:

 Exterior of the museum.

 Sir Alexander Fleming's nobel prize.

 A lighthouse light; more than a storey high and very interesting glass pattern up close.

 The Lewis chessmen carved in the 12th century.

Mary Queen of Scots' backgammon set.

A "mortsafe" - a locking iron case that goes around a coffin to deter body-snatchers.
